You're welcome and thanks for the help. I need it right now :)
What makes me mad about CoE is, of course, the "no more Ianto for you silly mings mongs" but more than that the completely gratuitous slagging off inflicted on the character. Which is not funny, it just hurts. Because it's offensive.
Maybe I'm over sensitive but I reckon that since they were going to kill him, making fun of him and insulting him every 5 minutes was something dictated by an incredible bad taste.
I agree with every of the points you listed. But sadly there's more.
1) Day 1: Jack tells Ianto "You will die like a dog". Not nice at all, especially if that's exactly what is going to happen.
2) Day 1: we are informed that he is a bender, a gayboy who takes it up the arse. Again, very nice way to introduce the character to the new viewers who never saw Ianto before.
3) Day 2: he is called a perv. Just because, you know.
4) Day 3: he is a queer and he smells like a queer. WTF!
5) Day 4: he's dead but the question really is "was he gay?" You know, just in case the notion didn't get through.
6) Day 4: bloody Debenhams, because he was a pathetic liar and you didn't know him at all. And I don't know what to do with the information that he got his leg broken by his dad, who always pushed him too hard. Help. Do I have to use this information to try understand what he's got with Jack, because I think this is the part where I had a serious brain damage.
7) so if his dad was always pushing him hard fatherfigure!Jack is constantly pushing him off because there are more important things to do ATM (beans are almost ready, for fuck sake!)
8) the whole "Speak to me Jack" scene, where once again Jack shrug him off with a "and just so you know I have a daughter and a grandson". Well Jack, if you don't tell him, guess what, he doesn't know.
9) "I love you" which was met with a "Don't".
And I'm sure I'm missing other nice things. There's quite a list. Really.
At this point I'd like to go back and add the abuse and sexual abuse he received in series 1 and 2 and in the book novels because I think it would be quite enlightening.
